Accelerative Integrated Method (AIM)

Many ofour schools have adopted AIM as a way to teach French as a second language to our elementary students.

This method of teaching uses gestures, drama and music tohelp the children gain oral and written fluency. AIM is an intensivemethod that allows teachers tosignificantly raise the expectations and performance of students.

Frenchwords are taught to the students in a visual way - using gestures, stories and drama. The benefit of this approach is that children don'tjust hear the word, they also learn to see and feel the language. Inessence, the language becomes more memorable to the children becausewords are constantly associated with a very strong ‘emotional hook’.This emotional component ensures that vocabulary is deeply embedded.
