Welcome Back
I would personally like to welcome everyone to Our Lady of Grace School.  For those of you returning, I hope you all have had a restful, relaxing summer.  For those of you who are new, I hope your first week has been a good one.

Growth at Our Lady of Grace
We are very excited to announce that the population at our school has grown tremendously! When we left in June, we had 460 students.  As of today, we are sitting close to 530.  That means that we will be required to do some shuffling within the first couple of weeks of school. The good news is that class sizes should reduce with this reorganization.  We are still waiting for the approval to hire new teachers, but are currently in the process of trying to develop the new class structures.  Please be patient with us as we work through this process.

Subscribe to our eNewsletter and Remind App
Communication is important to us.  We use electronic messaging as much as possible to ensure you are informed.  The eNewsletter will come out monthly to remind you of events for that month.  We will also send out texts using our Remind App.  If you have not registered for the Remind App, please do so as soon as possible.  The phone contact is included in the brown envelope that is coming home today.

Book Fair
We will be hosting a Book Fair from September 20th - 23rd. Students will have an opportunity to visit, make Wish Lists and purchase items.  Parents will be allowed to come in and purchase at any time during the day between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm.  We will sending home a schedule of when your child's class will be in so if you wanted to come in and purchase with your child, you are free to do so.  We will be open on Thursday, September 22nd until 7:00 pm for those parents who can't come in during the day.  Our goal this year is to make $6000.

Open House
We will be having an Open House on Thursday, September 22nd from 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm for parents to come in and see their child's classrooms.  We realize that for some classrooms, things will change, but at least this will provide you an opportunity to visit, look around and see the environment in which your child is learning.  ***Please note that during this Open House, we do not want full interviews with the teacher.  It is more of a Meet-and-Greet.  If you would like to schedule an interview, please contact your teacher to set up the appointment at any time.

We will be providing Agendas to all students from Kindergarten to Grade 6.  We ask that you pay $5 to help cover the cost.  Students in Gr. 7 and 8 will have the option of purchasing a school agenda or getting one of their own.

If your child is absent, please ensure that you contact the school to let us know.  You can do so by calling the absence in or by accessing the Safe Arrival Form on our school website (  If you know in advance that your child will be away, please ensure the teacher knows via a note.

We are currently completing Medical plans for students in our school who have allergies.  In some cases, these allergies are life-threatening.  As a school, we are attempting to be as nut-free as possible.  As you know, we cannot completely guarantee nut-free, but we will do our absolute best.  It is for this reason, that we ask everyone to ensure foods coming into the school are nut-free.  We DO NOT allow parents to bring food into the school as treats for birthdays or celebrations.  ***Please note that ALL medications must be dropped off at the office by the parent and the appropriate forms completed regarding how they are to be administered.  No medication should ever be in the child's possession unless specifically addressed by the office.
